Sen. Lindsey Graham Wins Republican Senate Primary in South Carolina
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) secured a victory against Republican challenger Mark Lynch in South Carolina’s Senate primary on Tuesday evening. Graham garnered 106,164 votes, which accounted for 59.3% of the total, while Lynch received 48,171 votes, or 26.9%, as reported by the Associated Press.
Moving forward, Graham is set to face Democrat Annie Andrews, who emerged victorious in her primary after defeating her opponents, Brandon P. Brown and Kyle Freeman.
A poll from Insider Advantage conducted on May 13-14 indicated that 56% of Republican primary voters supported Graham, contrasting sharply with Lynch’s 13% support among those surveyed.
Graham’s win followed an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, who expressed his “full and complete support” for the senator. Trump also acknowledged Graham for his support of the “Save America Act.”
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump urged, “This Tuesday, June 9th, every Republican in South Carolina should vote for Lindsey Graham. He has my complete and total support and I’m not going to let you down.”
Earlier, in April, Trump had endorsed Graham, referring to Lynch as a “lunatic” who had the backing of Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky).
Interestingly, back in March, a poll shared with Breitbart News suggested Lynch had a significant lead over Graham. Reports at that time indicated Graham was trailing with just 41% support, well under the majority threshold.
A voting memo noted that when South Carolina Republicans learned more about the candidates, they seemed to prefer Lynch due to his alignment with Trump on various issues, particularly concerning border security and America First policies.
On Tuesday, Graham took to X to rally support, stating that with the voters’ backing, both he and Trump could “continue to serve South Carolina.” He emphasized the importance of voting, saying, “Make sure to get out and vote by 7pm tonight so President Trump and I can continue to serve South Carolina!”
