Billy Ray Cyrus shares his recovery from vocal paralysis and sepsis.

Billy Ray Cyrus has recently shared details about his difficult journey battling vocal cord paralysis and sepsis, which he faced in 2024. In the midst of these health struggles, he described his recovery as “miraculous.” Although he kept much of the experience private, he highlighted a touching moment with his grandson during that time.

“In this very devastating moment of my life, my little grandson Bear looked up at me and said, ‘Try again.’ Honestly, before that, he hadn’t even really talked to me. I wasn’t sure he knew my name,” Cyrus recounted. “It struck me deeply. I thought about what he meant—was it about love? Music? I decided I needed to embrace both and just try again.” This sentiment has become a guiding principle for him as he moves forward.

Also in 2024, Cyrus went through a personal upheaval, filing for divorce from his third wife after just seven months of marriage. He cited fraud as the reason for seeking an annulment of their union. “Rock bottom is a challenging place, but sometimes it’s the only way to start climbing back up,” he reflected on that tough period.

Having faced what he describes as “hell and back” multiple times, Cyrus mentioned the importance of family. After his divorce from Tish Cyrus, the mother of five of his children, he has been working on repairing relationships with them. He acknowledged, “Life is about adjusting, and I think my family understands that.” However, he candidly stated that he may never be “parent of the year.”

Cyrus first gained fame with his iconic 1992 hit “Achy Breaky Heart,” which helped him rise to become one of the leading figures in country music. His noteworthy role in Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” alongside his daughter Miley further solidified his status. More recently, in 2019, Cyrus experienced a career resurgence by collaborating with Lil Nas X on the remix of “Old Town Road,” a track that broke records, staying at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for an impressive 19 weeks and earning him a Grammy Award.

Now, he’s set to release his new album, “The Hill,” after a decade-long hiatus, feeling optimistic about where he stands in life. “I really can’t complain,” he admitted. “I’m thrilled with how things are turning out.” This marks an exciting new beginning for Cyrus as he moves forward with his career and personal life.
