Navarro cautions that the Vance interview might focus solely on promoting books

Co-host of 'The View' supports the Transportation Secretary's suggestion for improved travel clothing.

Discussion on Upcoming Interview with Vice President J.D. Vance

Ana Navarro, co-host of “The View,” expressed her concerns on Thursday about the show’s upcoming interview with Vice President J.D. Vance. She cautioned that she didn’t want the episode to become just a platform for selling books, especially given that this has become a pattern with Republican guests.

During a discussion with producer Brian Teta, who noted that people seemed surprised by Vance’s presence on the show, Navarro pointed out that it’s not really surprising. “He has books, right? And I think everyone, including Republicans, knows that ‘The View’ does well at marketing books,” she remarked. She mentioned wanting to delve into various significant topics, like the Epstein case and the issues at play between Vance and Donald Trump.

Vance and His New Book

J.D. Vance, scheduled to appear on the show June 16, is the first sitting Republican vice president to feature on “The View.” All six co-hosts—Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sarah Haines, Alyssa Farrah Griffin, and Navarro—will be present for this significant episode, engaging directly with elected Republicans.

Interestingly, a recent study revealed that of 341 guests on “The View” in 2025, only two identified as conservatives, while a larger 128 were liberals. In 2026, the show brought in various Republican guest hosts during Griffin’s maternity leave, though no prominent promotions of books were made.

What to Expect from Vance’s Appearance

On Tuesday, Vance will not only discuss his new book titled “Communion: Finding My Back to Faith” but also address current news and matters regarding the Trump administration’s strategies. Teta acknowledged that Vance has differing views from the co-hosts but showed eagerness to hear his perspective. “I hope it’s a passionate yet respectful debate about pressing topics,” he added while expressing excitement for the upcoming episode.

It remains to be seen how Vance will navigate this appearance, and whether or not his team will respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comments ahead of time.
