Yankees vs. Blue Jays Series Wrap-Up

The Yankees are wrapping up their three-game series with the Blue Jays this Sunday in Toronto.

Right-handed pitcher Will Warren will take the mound for New York at Rogers Center, aiming to reclaim his spot in the starting rotation.

Warren began the season impressively, starting his first seven games with a solid 2.39 ERA. It seemed like he was on track to become a key player in the Yankees’ rotation. However, things have taken a downward turn.

Since May 6, Warren has faced challenges, posting a 4.35 ERA and struggling with his control. He’s been walking around 3.77 batters per nine innings, a recurring issue that’s followed him throughout his early career in the majors.

In his latest outing against the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium, Warren’s performance was less than stellar. He allowed three runs over five innings—although he only recorded three strikeouts, he did manage to limit the damage by giving up six hits and one walk.

Warren has not had much success facing Toronto in the past; one instance stands out where he surrendered eight runs, ten hits, and four walks in just four innings last July, which was quite an outing, to put it mildly.

Even though the Blue Jays have seen a dip in their offensive production this season, they still have a lineup full of threats that could give Warren a tough time again. If the Blue Jays force him into difficult situations early on, it could spiral quickly for him at Rogers Center.

If Warren starts issuing walks again, he may find himself in a tight spot before the Yankees even have a chance to call on their bullpen.
