Trump Endorses Mike Collins in Senate Runoff
On Sunday, former President Donald Trump endorsed Republican Congressman Mike Collins in his race against Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff for the upcoming runoff election in Georgia.
Collins will compete against former football coach Derek Dooley on June 16. Just days after early voting concluded, Trump shared his endorsement on Truth Social. “It’s an honor to endorse MAGA Mike Collins, who has been with me since the beginning,” he expressed. “He is a highly respected lawmaker, running for the Senate in a state that holds a special place in my heart, Georgia, where we achieved an unprecedented presidential victory.” Trump emphasized that Collins has the backing of notable MAGA supporters and many Republicans in Congress, labeling him as a “warrior and a winner.”
Continuing, Trump praised Collins’ background, noting his success as a businessman and his commendable service in the U.S. House of Representatives. “Throughout his career, he has tirelessly fought to put America first,” Trump stated. He further assured that Collins would work to boost the economy, cut taxes, defend American energy, strengthen military forces, promote election integrity, and secure the borders to prevent illegal immigration.
Collins is also recognized for his support of the Laken Riley Act, which mandates federal detention for undocumented immigrants charged with theft, a law that Trump signed in January 2025.
In a more critical tone, Trump addressed Dooley, stating, “Mike must overcome his Republican rival before facing Ossoff. I don’t know Derek Dooley, and I’m not sure many others do either. He appears to be an okay guy but has spent most of his life outside of Georgia, failed to vote in the last two elections, and publicly stated in 2020 that I lost Georgia, despite the evidence showing I won by a significant margin!”
