Singer Oliver Tree tragically passed away on Sunday in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro. Authorities reported that two helicopters collided, claiming the lives of all six individuals aboard.
At 32 years old, the “Life Goes On” artist was touring Brazil when he boarded a helicopter in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes area, located southwest of Rio de Janeiro, as noted by reports.
The collision occurred over a parking lot used for electric cars, leading to a devastating crash that resulted in at least 20 vehicles being engulfed in flames.
Video footage from the scene reveals the helicopter completely wrecked, surrounded by mangled and charred cars.
Among the other victims were Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, known as YouTuber Gaspi, Lucas Brito Chavez, as well as pilots Alexandre Sousa and Charles Marsillac.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the incident.
Tree, easily recognized for his distinctive bowl-cut mullet hairstyle, was in South America for his “first world tour,” which was set to cover over 30 countries and reach all seven continents.
He had just completed a show in São Paulo last week and was scheduled to perform in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 13th.
Having gained over 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, the “Miss You” artist hails from Santa Cruz, California, and entered the music scene at 17, collaborating with well-known figures like Skrillex and Zeds Dead.
His career began with the independent album, Splitting Branches, released in 2013, but he took a hiatus to focus on music technology studies.
In 2020, Tree made a comeback with his debut studio album, Ugly is Beautiful, which featured the platinum hit “Life Goes On.”
By 2024, he was nominated for an International Song Brit Award alongside Robin Schulz for their collaborative hit “Miss You.”
He followed this with releases like “Cowboy Tears,” “Alone in a Crowd,” and “Love You Madly Hate You Badly” in April 2026.
