Governor Gavin Newsom Claims Federal Investigation Related to Trump
California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) has asserted that he and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, are subjects of a Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation. He accuses President Donald Trump of targeting him as he contemplates a presidential run.
In a post on X, Newsom shared that “federal agents knocked on the door” of friends, family, and even former associates. He labeled Trump as “the most corrupt president in American history,” alleging that Trump’s Justice Department has persistently gone after political opponents.
“In recent days, federal agents have been showing up at the homes of families, friends, and former staff—not because they found any crimes, but in search of one,” Newsom stated. “They’re demanding records, misusing the grand jury process, and digging through documents that they’ve randomly collected over the years. Trump’s actions are not just about my harsh tweets; he’s after me because I might run for president.”
Newsom also mentioned that the Trump administration is targeting various other figures, including former FBI Director James Comey, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), and Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).
“One after the other, everyone who has stood up to Donald Trump has ended up on his target list—I’m now proudly part of that list,” he said. “After calling for my arrest last year, Trump instructed the Justice Department to investigate me, and just last week, I discovered that his campaign had reached out to my home.”
Newsom pointed out that Trump is also “going after” his wife, portraying her as a “public servant” devoted to supporting women and girls.
“If they can’t intimidate me, they’ll attack the mother of our children,” Newsom remarked. “Trump picked the wrong person to target. We have nothing to hide.”
According to Newsom, the investigation concerning him and his wife has been “ongoing since 2025” and stems from whistleblower claims related to his personal financial matters. Reports have emerged indicating that Siebel Newsom allegedly earned over $3 million from the charitable organization The Representation Project, alongside her company, Girls Club LLC, “over the past decade.”
