Missing Woman in South Carolina
A 39-year-old woman from South Carolina has been reported missing after last being seen leaving a Planet Fitness gym. Elena Katherine Moore vanished while heading towards a nearby wooded area, according to local authorities.
Moore was at the gym in Lexington, a suburb of Columbia, when she signed in around 6:40 p.m. on Thursday. Shortly after, she was seen walking from the gym towards a wooded region behind a Lowe’s hardware store. A missing persons report was filed the following day.
Her employers noted that Moore, who works as a personal trainer, had been absent from work, which raised concerns among her colleagues.
On Friday, investigators used a drone to search the area where she was last spotted, but no evidence of her was found.
By Monday, a collaborative effort involving Lexington police and various state and local authorities expanded the search, focusing on the woods behind the Lowe’s store and the gym. This effort also enlisted help from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and other emergency agencies.
Police emphasized that the operation was not a recovery mission, but rather aimed at systematically eliminating specific locations. As of now, no sign of Moore has been discovered, according to Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green.
Elena is described as a white female, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing around 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing an olive green hoodie and black athletic pants. It’s not clear if she had a cellphone with her at the time.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to get in touch with detectives or Midlands Crimestoppers.
