FBI Thwarts Attack on UFC Freedom 250 Event
The FBI, along with other law enforcement agencies, has successfully prevented a plot aimed at the UFC Freedom 250 event held on Sunday, as reported by FBI Director Kash Patel.
According to Patel, the agency became aware of a potential threat on June 10. It involved individuals located outside of Washington, D.C. He noted, “Thanks to quick actions by the FBI and our partners, multiple individuals have been taken into custody, and the planned attack was thwarted.” This statement was made via a post on X.
Officials revealed that the plot entailed utilizing a drone equipped with explosives to target buildings nearby, which may have caused attendees to flee. Around 90,000 people were gathered in the vicinity for the event.
The attackers reportedly intended to breach the White House gates. Moreover, it was discovered that the suspects had labeled their targets as “billionaires,” “capitalist elites,” and politicians linked to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
Chats obtained by the FBI indicated discussions of “pre-operational activities” among a group of 23 people. Currently, five individuals are in custody.
In a statement, Secret Service Director Sean Curran emphasized, “The U.S. Secret Intelligence Service closely collaborated with the FBI throughout this investigation.” He added that agents and technical teams worked tirelessly in the lead-up to the event to identify and apprehend those responsible.
When questioned about an alleged attack during the G7 summit in France, President Trump remarked, “I’ve never heard of it,” while referencing a fighter jet attack.
Additionally, Vice President J.D. Vance, speaking on “Fox & Friends,” urged, “This is what occurs when rhetoric escalates to a point where disagreement incites violence. We need to encourage everyone to calm down.” He also pointed out that many political representatives should reflect on the current climate of violence.
The UFC Freedom 250 event took place on June 14, coinciding with Flag Day and President Trump’s 80th birthday.
