Moore Secures Victory in Alabama Senate Runoff
In the Alabama Senate runoff elections, Republican Representative Barry Moore, supported by former President Donald Trump, triumphed over Navy SEAL veteran Jared Hudson. This win further solidifies Trump’s influence within the Republican Party, as many candidates he endorsed have been successful during the 2026 election cycle.
If Moore manages to secure victory in the general election this November, he will take over the seat from incumbent Senator Tommy Tuberville, who is aiming for the position of Alabama governor.
Moore previously won the primary on May 19, garnering 39.2% of the votes compared to Hudson’s 25.6%. Neither candidate achieved a majority, leading to the runoff.
Trump publicly endorsed Moore just before the primary, calling him “America’s first patriot” and encouraging Alabama voters to support him through a post on Truth Social. He remarked about Moore’s historical support, saying he was the first congressman to endorse him, and highlighted his electoral successes in Alabama.
As of the latest reports, Moore leads Hudson with a substantial margin of 58% to 40.5%, according to NBC News and Decision Desk Headquarters.
Both candidates share similar views with Trump and have lauded his achievements during his presidency. Notably, Moore has been an early supporter of Trump, calling him “the greatest president” in his lifetime.
Trump’s endorsements have significantly influenced various elections, with some candidates, like Louisiana’s Julia Letlow and Kentucky’s Ed Gullane, achieving wins after receiving his backing. Nevertheless, not all endorsements were successful, such as in the Iowa gubernatorial race where Zach Rahn came out on top against Randy Feenstra.
Interestingly, Trump had also previously backed former Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, who lost to Democrat Doug Jones in December 2017.
