Caitlin Clark’s Signature Shoe Launch
Caitlin Clark has just unveiled her signature shoe.
In collaboration with Fever Star and Nike, the Caitlin 1 has made Clark the fifth current WNBA player and the third associated with Nike to release a signature shoe, as announced by the company on Wednesday.
The official launch of the shoes is set for October 1st.
Clark expressed her excitement, comparing the moment to launching a debut album, saying, “This is like your debut album. We want it to be killer.”
Joining other stars like Aces’ A’ja Wilson and Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu under the Nike banner, Clark is also expected to don her own design. The sneakers, predominantly blue, feature her logo on the tongue, and interestingly, the texture consists entirely of small C’s.
Fans have eagerly anticipated this announcement from WNBA players.
Clark previously mentioned her commitment to wearing only Kobe Bryant’s shoes was coming to a close.
Interestingly, she has updated her Instagram username to Caitlin1 and changed her profile photo to a prominent image of her shoes. Plus, during pregame warm-ups for the Fever’s recent 113-91 victory over Toronto Tempo, she wore an all-blue outfit complete with a bracelet marked with the numbers 10-1-26, hinting at the launch.
When discussing what went into designing her shoe, Clark shared, “We wanted it to look different than what you see in the store. But I also wanted it to be something that people were comfortable wearing. I went really crazy and expressive with the colors. I think it speaks to my love of inspiring the next generation and how much they love self-expression.”
Nike claims the shoe is built not just for style and comfort, but also to enhance performance. It includes Nike Opticast technology, which aims to minimize drag and improve movement during play.
This season, Clark is averaging 20.4 points per game for the 9-5 Fever, placing her sixth in the WNBA standings.
