The suspected “mastermind” behind the UFC Freedom 250 assassination plot is reportedly an illegal immigrant, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Previously identified as a 31-year-old residing in Omaha, Nebraska, Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez is actually an illegal immigrant hailing from Mexico, DHS revealed.
His B-2 tourist visa had expired back in 2001, when he was just a child, around 5 or 6 years old. Later, he qualified for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program during the Obama administration. It’s important to note that DACA isn’t amnesty; it merely gives temporary protection from deportation to certain minors brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents. DACA requires renewal every two years and does not provide permanent legal status.
Meanwhile, Alvarez is now set for deportation following an ICE detention filing. DHS stated, “This illegal alien should never have been allowed into our country. We will ensure that he is brought to justice and promptly removed.”
The FBI arrested Alvarez on Sunday, accusing him of conspiring to assassinate individuals at the UFC Freedom 250 event. The indictment alleges that he and at least four other conspirators planned to utilize explosive drones around the venue to provoke evacuations, with the intention of deploying snipers to target specific people fleeing from the scene.
Their alleged targets include several Republicans, such as Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Sens. Jim Justice and Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, and Reps. Carol Miller and Riley Moore of West Virginia. There are also claims that President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and even Elon Musk were on the target list.
This past Sunday, the patriotic UFC event attracted nearly 90,000 attendees, which included people on the South Lawn of the White House and others gathered nearby at the Ellipse.
