Tim Scott: America is Fortunate, We Need to Improve Rather Than Resent

America’s 250th Birthday Celebration

In a video for Breitbart’s American Tribute Project, Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) reflected on the theme of constant change in America. He shared a personal story about his grandfather, who worked in cotton fields and managed to see Scott achieve a seat in Congress despite not finishing third grade.

“Happy birthday, America! 250 years,” Scott expressed. He emphasized that change is a fundamental aspect of America. Recalling his grandfather’s life, Scott noted the contrast between his grandfather’s humble beginnings and his own path to Congress.

Scott remarked on the many blessings America has, suggesting that a meaningful way to honor those blessings is through self-improvement. He acknowledged both the pain in the country and the promise that emerges from it, pointing out that overcoming hardships often leads to new opportunities.

“This is a country that doesn’t simply suffer; we struggle,” Scott said. He believes that challenges can pave the way for opportunities and that his family’s story embodies the essence of America’s journey.

In November 2016, Breitbart reported that Scott secured his first full term as a U.S. Senator after being appointed in 2013 when former Senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) resigned. His video comes as the nation gears up to celebrate its 250th anniversary. Events like Freedom 250 and the Great American State Fair will take place on the National Mall for 16 days in honor of the milestone. Additionally, the National Park Service announced that fireworks will return to Mount Rushmore to celebrate this significant occasion.
