Manhunt for Suspect in Multiple Highway Shootings

Authorities from multiple agencies are currently on the lookout for a 22-year-old suspect linked to a series of violent crimes along highways. This includes a shooting incident near Arrowhead Stadium during the FIFA World Cup and a confrontation with police.

The FBI’s Kansas City Field Office has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of Oscar Sanchez Muñoz. Described as a white Hispanic man weighing around 184 pounds, he stands 5 feet 8 inches tall, has brown hair and brown eyes, and bears a tattoo on his right forearm. Officials have warned that he should be considered “armed and dangerous.”

The search for Sanchez Muñoz is linked to several violent episodes across Kansas and Missouri. A warrant for his arrest was issued after he reportedly fired shots into a car in Wyandotte County, Kansas, on June 11. Furthermore, he has an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault in the county, with bail set at $100,000.

Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) indicates that Sanchez Muñoz is also suspected in five shootings that occurred on Tuesday night along Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Missouri, not far from the stadium hosting World Cup matches.

Tragically, one individual was killed in these shootings, and another is critically injured, while others, including an Uber driver shot in the leg while transporting fans, are expected to recover.

In a related incident, police reported a violent standoff at a home in Independence, Missouri, which resulted in a house fire. After the fire was extinguished and the area secured, investigators, including a K-9 unit and the Missouri State Fire Marshal, searched the property but could not find Sanchez Muñoz. However, they did manage to recover a vehicle believed to be connected to the shootings.

As of now, authorities have not released any information regarding a possible motive. Both the FBI and KCPD are urging the public to stay alert and to report any sightings of Sanchez Muñoz immediately by calling 911.
