Kyle Schwarber hits three home runs while Bryce Harper completes the cycle in a win for the Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies marked a significant moment in their rebuild following the firing of manager Rob Thomson, showcasing historic performances from two key players.

Kyle Schwarber belted three home runs—two during the explosive third inning—while Bryce Harper achieved a cycle, adding yet another highlight to his impressive career.

On Saturday, the Phillies unleashed an offensive onslaught to overpower the New York Mets, finishing the game with a score of 15-3. This win was bolstered by standout efforts from Schwarber and Harper, two of baseball’s most notable figures.

Schwarber’s first homer soared 456 feet, followed by another at 457 feet off Mets reliever Cionel Perez. He capped off the night with a two-run shot in the seventh, bringing his season total to 28 homers, leading the major leagues and marking the fifth time in his career he’s sent three balls over the fence in a game.

Christopher Sanchez pitched six innings, allowing just one earned run, while lowering his ERA to an impressive 1.80. This marked his 23rd consecutive start at Citizens Bank Park allowing two or fewer earned runs, ranking second in MLB history for such performances at that venue.

Schwarber’s achievement places him among a select group of major league players who have hit multiple home runs in a single inning, joining Houston’s Yordan Alvarez from earlier this season. He became the fourth Phillies player to achieve two home runs in one inning, following players like Trea Turner and Von Hayes.

Meanwhile, Harper recorded his 16th solo home run of the season during the first inning, accompanied by a double and single in the third, and a two-run triple in the fifth. This impressive performance earned him his first career cycle, making him the 11th player in Phillies history to do so.

The series finale between the Phillies and Mets is set for Sunday night, with the first pitch scheduled at 7:20 p.m. ET.
