Tkachuk Brothers Eye Stanley Cup Together After Major Trade Involving Brady
The Tkachuk brothers have made quite a name for themselves, having clinched gold medals together with Team USA. Now, it appears they’ll be uniting once again, this time in pursuit of a Stanley Cup, following a significant trade announcement made on Father’s Day.
Reports suggest that the Ottawa Senators are on the verge of trading Brady Tkachuk to join his brother Matthew on the Florida Panthers. This development has caught the attention of many fans, creating a buzz around the NHL.
Florida’s proposed package for Brady reportedly includes a first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, another first-round pick for 2029, and a second-round pick in 2030.
At 26 years old, Brady was considered a likely trade candidate as he enters the offseason with two years remaining on his seven-year, $57.5 million contract with the Senators. Last season, he had a strong performance, contributing 59 points, including 29 goals, and was instrumental in leading the Senators back to the playoffs.
However, the Senators’ playoff run was cut short when they lost in the first round to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2025. It was somewhat unfortunate for Ottawa, as they were eliminated by the eventual Stanley Cup champions, the Carolina Hurricanes—one of the teams Brady reportedly had an interest in being traded to.
Brady also listed the Vegas Golden Knights and Minnesota Wild as potential teams he would consider. This eagerness to explore options adds an interesting layer to the trade dynamics.
Named the team captain before the 2021-22 season, Brady has established himself as a leader. Now, with the potential of joining forces with Matthew, he aims to bring along the chemistry they displayed during the recent Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, where they helped Team USA secure a historic victory over Canada. Brady’s three goals and five points during the tournament were pivotal to that success.
The Panthers are looking to boost their roster significantly after missing the playoffs last season with a record of 40-38-4. Following two consecutive Stanley Cup wins the previous years, it’s clear that Florida’s front office is eager to return to postseason glory.
Joining Matthew and the other talented players in Sunrise could mark an exhilarating start to Brady’s offseason.
