Detroit Lions Cornerback Facing Serious Charges
Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested on Wednesday, facing four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, charges that could lead to a life sentence if he is found guilty.
The 23-year-old turned himself in at the Orient Road Jail in Tampa, Florida, in response to a warrant, as reported by local news outlets.
As of late Wednesday night, he remained in custody.
Through his representative, Arnold issued a statement claiming he “categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations against him and maintains his innocence.”
The Lions acknowledged the situation but refrained from making further comments, citing respect for the ongoing legal process.
Boakai Hilton is alleged to be the mastermind behind a robbery and assault involving Arnold’s driver and two of her co-workers. Arnold apparently believed that the driver facilitated the removal of over $250,000 in cash and merchandise from the Airbnb where she was staying in February.
Arnold noticed the missing money when leaving the Airbnb on February 1 but didn’t report it until two days later, according to records.
The alleged kidnapping and armed robbery took place shortly after midnight on February 4.
Arnold’s attorney, Dennis White, asserted, “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations,” suggesting that testimonies from convicted felons could be a significant factor, given their possible motives to shift blame.
White added that Arnold is eager for a chance to contest the charges in court, expressing confidence in his eventual exoneration.
Contrary to Arnold’s claims, the State Attorney’s Office has released a statement indicating that Arnold orchestrated the kidnapping and robbery shortly after reporting the lost property.
Prosecutors intend to file a pretrial motion to keep Arnold in jail until the trial, arguing that he poses a danger to the community.
Three co-defendants in the case—Lindell Hudson, Christion Williams, and Freddie Hughes—have already received life sentences. Hilton faces serious charges, including multiple counts of robbery, kidnapping, and conspiracy.
Two other defendants, Ariana Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo, have agreed to plea deals requiring them to testify truthfully in future proceedings.
