Mike Lindell Settles $1.3 Billion Lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems

The CEO of MyPillow, Mike Lindell, has reached a settlement with Dominion Voting Systems over allegations linked to the 2020 election, allowing him a chance to breathe easy.

In 2021, Dominion, now referred to as Free Vote, filed a defamation lawsuit against Lindell, claiming damages amounting to $1.3 billion. Fast forward five years, and recently, Lindell’s legal team filed a motion to dismiss the case with prejudice, meaning it can’t be brought up again in the future.

In a brief statement, Free Vote confirmed that “the parties have agreed to resolve this matter privately.”

Lindell, currently in the race for governor of Minnesota, is polling as a leading Republican candidate. In a March party endorsement process, military veteran and healthcare executive Kendall Qualls was approved as a contender.

Expressing his relief to WCCO-TV, Lindell said, “Now I can run for governor and win governorship without having to worry about a $1.3 billion lawsuit in the back of my mind.”

Previously, Lindell was ordered to pay $2.3 million for defamation to Dominion employees and another $780,000 to DHL, with a federal judge ruling that he defamed Smartmatic, another voting machine company. The court is still determining whether the lawsuit meets the “actual malice” standard, which could lead to additional damages for Lindell.

Back in January 2021, he responded defiantly to the potential Dominion lawsuit.

It’s worth noting that Dominion similarly pursued a lawsuit against former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, with that case concluding in September 2025 in an undisclosed settlement.

The leading three candidates for the Republican primary have garnered interest, notably with endorsements from prominent figures like Donald Trump, which adds weight to Lindell’s aspirations for the governorship.

The winner of the Republican primary, scheduled for August 11th, will go head-to-head against incumbent Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) in the general election.
