There’s definitely some tension between Bryce Harper and the fans of the Washington Nationals.
On Thursday night, Harper and his team, the Phillies, pulled off an impressive comeback, overcoming a 5-0 deficit. They finished with a seven-run surge, highlighted by Harper’s two-run homer in the ninth inning to clinch the win. This victory marks the Phillies’ seventh win in the last ten games, drawing them closer to the Atlanta Braves in the National League East.
It’s worth mentioning, though, that the Phillies had a rough start to the season, even firing their manager a couple of months ago. But, I guess things can turn around quickly.

Circling back to Harper…
Over the past week, he’s really been on fire, hitting .429 and smashing three home runs. One of those came after being met with loud, derogatory chants of “Forget you, Bryce Harper” from the crowd all night.
In a rather cheeky moment, Harper made sure to acknowledge the crowd as he rounded the bases… twice.
Are Nationals fans really still mad at Bryce Harper?
“But the ring finger, I just want to make sure it’s there,” Harper commented after the game, mentioning he was still taken aback by the intense atmosphere but was no stranger to hostile crowds.
“That’s part of it all. It’s definitely strange coming from a fan base I dedicated seven years to. Still, there are folks here who support me. It’s all in good spirits.”
And it’s interesting to note…
Harper’s reference to his ring finger is a bit confusing, especially since he hasn’t actually won a World Series yet. The Nationals did that the year after he left.
Maybe he just wanted to avoid getting penalized by Major League Baseball? Or perhaps a reminder that he’s a two-time MVP? It’s hard to say.
Question two: Are you really still upset about Harper leaving the Nationals? Almost ten years have gone by! Can you believe it? He was with the Nationals from 2012 until 2018, and then he headed to Philadelphia in 2019. That makes eight seasons with the Phillies now.
Time flies. I mean, I remember when he was touted as “The Next Big Thing” all through high school.
What’s wild is that he actually delivered on that promise. He’s well on his way to the Hall of Fame, no doubt about it.
Now 33 years old, he’s still got that spark. Sure, he’s a family man now, but he proves he can still hold his ground when needed.
Just that ring finger, though!
Not the more extravagant one next door.
