Mysterious Disappearance of Kentucky Teen Sparks Search

A 19-year-old girl from Kentucky vanished under puzzling circumstances during a gathering on a boat at a local lake, triggering an extensive search operation.

Marley Kinney was enjoying time on a pontoon boat with around ten friends at Grayson Lake, situated in Carter County, when she went overboard to use the bathroom. Initially, her friends were unaware that she had gone missing, according to local authorities.

Reports indicate that the last confirmed sighting of Kinney in her bikini was around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Her friends struggled to pinpoint the exact location where she entered the water.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources mobilized their teams to scour the lake and surrounding areas since her disappearance was reported. Various methods, including sonar, K-9 units, and a thermal imaging drone, have been employed in the search, stated Lt. Chris Mulholland.

Details remain limited as investigators continue their efforts, but Kinney’s family is urging anyone with relevant information to step forward. “My little cousin is missing,” posted Sinclair Marie on Instagram, who also shared posters seeking help in locating Kinney.

In her plea, she wrote, “If anyone in the Grayson/Ashland/Morehead area has information, please share. Let’s raise awareness.” The flyers contain Kinney’s photo and contact details for the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, despite the agency stating they are not involved in the investigation.

Authorities are encouraging anyone with insights to reach out to either the Fish and Wildlife officials or state police. A post from the Carter County Sheriff’s Office noted the urgency, while also indicating that information must reach the appropriate agencies promptly.

As of now, Kinney is described as being 5-foot-5, weighing approximately 125 pounds, with black hair. She was last seen wearing a pink, orange, and white bikini.
