Washington DC Hosts Great American State Fair for America250

Ambassador Monica Crowley recently discussed the Great American State Fair, an event poised to transform the National Mall in Washington, D.C., from June 25th to July 10th. This 16-day fair is in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. Attendees can expect pavilions representing all 50 states and six territories, a towering 110-foot Ferris wheel, traditional games, and even a rodeo, all aimed at fostering national unity.

In other news, President Donald Trump introduced a new design for his U.S. passport on Friday, showcasing his portrait on the page just before the Declaration of Independence. He also included a message cautioning newcomers, stating, “Your new U.S. passport says, ‘Welcome, but good luck!’ President DJT,” as noted in a post on Truth Social.

The passport features an image of a serious-looking Trump alongside his signature, while another page displays a portrayal of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration, with “United States of America 250” inscribed beneath. This unveiling coincides with a broader “America 250” celebration, initiated during Trump’s presidency, which will include additional events like a Grand Prix on the National Mall in August and a UFC match at the White House earlier this month.

According to previous reports, the State Department plans to distribute a limited edition U.S. passport prominently featuring Trump to commemorate this milestone. These special passports will be available this summer to any American citizen applying for a passport during the rollout.

Trump’s announcement comes as new, stricter screening policies for foreign visitors are put into place. The administration is emphasizing the importance of respecting U.S. laws and institutions for tourists and nonimmigrants. This context perhaps adds a layer of contradiction to the celebratory tone of the passport design.

As we look toward the future, these changes and events will undoubtedly be watched closely, especially with the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, which will draw many international visitors to the U.S.
