Khanna Responds to Musk’s Legal Threats
California Democratic Representative Ro Khanna addressed billionaire Elon Musk’s threats of legal action during a recent conversation outside the U.S. Capitol. “This is what he’s doing,” Khanna remarked to Fox News Digital. He expressed his determination not to be intimidated by Musk, saying, “Billionaires can’t scare me into silence.”
Khanna’s remarks follow an online exchange about the implications of Musk’s campaign to cut foreign government aid programs during the second Trump administration. The representative criticized Musk’s influence on such cuts, stating, “Elon Musk needs accountability. Celebrating his wealth ignores the 4.5 million children who could suffer from reduced assistance.”
Musk, on the other hand, has been adamant about his perspective, having overseen efforts to reduce inefficiencies in U.S. programs. He responded to Khanna’s comments on social media, suggesting that accountability should go both ways. “It’s time to prosecute this liar,” Musk stated, calling Khanna a “robber” who deserves punishment.
This back-and-forth underscores the growing tension between influential figures and politicians regarding government spending and international aid. Critics, while acknowledging some waste in spending, argue that Musk’s approach fails to recognize the critical role of aid in saving lives worldwide.
As of March last year, around 83% of USAID programs had been cut, which raises questions about the impact of these decisions. Although Musk’s exact intentions for pursuing legal action against Khanna remain unclear, the back-and-forth continues to ignite debate among both lawmakers and the public.
When asked if he’d be willing to go to court if Musk followed through, Khanna stated he was open to the idea, mentioning, “Let’s see what happens next.”
