Planned Parenthood Launches $2 Million Campaign Against House Republicans
Planned Parenthood’s political arm is rolling out a significant campaign worth $2 million, aiming to sway vulnerable House Republicans in an effort to safeguard federal funding.
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced that this funding will target battleground states including Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania, starting Friday.
The strategy is to leverage digital ads and local grassroots efforts to galvanize voters while applying pressure on key Republican lawmakers. The objective? To prevent Congress from permanently cutting funding to health centers.
The campaign is focusing on several Republican representatives: Juan Siscomani (R-Ariz.), Dave Schweikert (R-Ariz.), Gabe Evans (R-Colo.), Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Penn.), Tom Barrett (R-Mich.), Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa), and Ryan MacKenzie (R-Penn.).
This initiative builds on a previous $1.5 million effort the organization implemented back in April.
A clause in last year’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act has barred family planning health centers from receiving Medicaid reimbursement for essential services like contraception and cancer screenings. According to Planned Parenthood, these restrictions have cost affiliates over $700 million annually, as Medicaid serves as their primary funding source.
The current provision is set to expire on July 4, and Planned Parenthood anticipates a Democratic resurgence in the House that would help avert similar funding cuts in the future.
While federal law already limits Medicaid payments for most abortion services, conservatives maintain that organizations providing abortions shouldn’t receive taxpayer support for other healthcare services, which they believe could be offered by alternative providers.
As House Republicans prepare new legislative measures, some conservatives are advocating for permanent funding restrictions on Planned Parenthood. Previously, Breitbart News reported that Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America had urged Republican senators to incorporate additional defunding measures related to family planning in the new reconciliation package before the current restrictions lapse on July 4.
“Last Independence Day, you helped achieve something groundbreaking: the first-ever withdrawal of federal Medicaid funding for a large-scale abortion program for a year. Taxpayers shouldn’t be compelled to finance a program that targets women and unborn children while simultaneously backing opposing political interests. Your dedication made this possible, and we are pleased to inform you that HR, now known as the Working Families Tax Cut, addressed this issue directly,” commented Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of SBA Pro-Life America.
