German soccer player mistakenly boards the wrong team bus at the World Cup

Leon Goretzka’s Bus Blunder at the World Cup

It’s already been over two weeks since the World Cup kicked off, yet German midfielder Leon Goretzka is still settling into the tournament vibe.

This past Saturday, a funny clip surfaced showing him accidentally boarding the Ecuadorian team bus instead of his own.

In the footage, Goretzka gets on the bus and looks around, quickly realizing he’s in the wrong place. He turns around and gets off, somewhat amused but also slightly embarrassed.

It’s interesting to note how he handled the awkward situation with a calm demeanor, leaving the Ecuador bus without showing much emotion, heading over to the right one for Germany.

This incident came right after Ecuador managed to pull off a thrilling 2-1 victory, keeping their World Cup hopes alive—a moment that must have added to the surreal atmosphere.

Throughout the tournament, Goretzka has played in two of Germany’s three matches, clocking in 22 minutes during the group stage. His standout performance? That would be on June 14, when Germany secured a stunning 7-1 win against Curacao.

This marks Goretzka’s third World Cup with Germany, following his participation in 2018 and 2022. Back in his World Cup debut, he started a group match against South Korea and played for over an hour. In 2022, he was featured in two games against Spain and Costa Rica, lasting the full 90 minutes in both.

When not donning the national team’s jersey, Goretzka plays for FC Bayern Munich. He’s had quite a career, tallying 51 goals and 44 assists over an average of around 19,854 minutes on the pitch.
