Jane Seymour’s Fitness Insights at 75

At 75 years old, Jane Seymour has opened up about her approach to fitness, sharing some insightful and, well, unexpected thoughts.

She emphasizes a routine that includes movement, moderation, and understanding one’s own limits. Interestingly, she shared that while she’s passionate about fitness, she avoids yoga; she described herself as “too type A” and joked about competing with everyone in class.

“My fitness regimen? It’s a mix of light weights, walking—especially brisk walking if I can manage it—and some hill climbs. I also do Pilates and gyrotonics. On days when I can’t do that, I stick to my usuals: sit-ups and ballet exercises,” she explained.

Seymour, known for her role in “Harry Wilde,” pointed out that she’s never followed a strict diet. She follows a Mediterranean diet, mostly avoiding starchy foods—not entirely, though, as she believes it’s important not to let others think she’s dieting. “I also drink very little, especially when filming,” she added.

The key to her maintaining energy, according to her, isn’t about following every new trend, but rather listening to her body and respecting her capabilities.

When she attended group classes, especially yoga, she learned to temper her competitive nature. “I often found myself saying, ‘You can’t win this, Jane. Just enjoy it,’” she recounted, quite candidly. “I want to win, but I’ve realized that some things just aren’t for me. I’d rather not end up in the hospital!”

This self-awareness seems to fuel her seemingly endless energy. Joe Lando, her longtime friend and former co-star, has noted this characteristic in her as well.

More than three decades after they became one of television’s beloved duos, they’ve reunited for the fifth season of “Harry Wilde.” This season promises bigger mysteries and intriguing twists that could complicate their characters’ lives.

When asked about their enduring friendship, Seymour reflected on how their initial bond during the filming of “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” has lasted. “It’s been quite the journey,” she said. “We really got to know each other back then.”

While they did realize their romantic feelings would ultimately lead to friendship, Lando has fond memories of Seymour. “She never runs out of energy. It’s impressive,” he remarked, recalling days on set when she continued to push through even while pregnant with twins.

Seymour attributes her stamina to her love for her work. “People often ask where it comes from. I just say, ‘Because I love what I do,’” she stated. “I just keep going, and when I’m done, I sleep.”
