It seems Jalen Brunson’s moment in the spotlight shifted a bit.
I was rooting for him all through the Knicks playoffs, and it was kind of exciting to see him show up on Friday to support friend and superfan, Mariska Hargitay, during her unexpected Broadway performance.
Hargitay, famous for her role in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” is currently showcasing her solo show “Every Brilliant Thing” until July 5.
Brunson attended the performance at Hudson Theater with his wife, Ali Marks, and it sounds like he stole some of the attention with a standing ovation from the crowd.
As reported, there’s a scene where Hargitay’s character looks into a box filled with various items.
Interestingly enough, on this particular night, the box contained a Brunson Knicks jersey, which really got the audience excited.
Brunson, who seems to be a devoted SVU fan, has formed a close bond with Hargitay. After the show, he and Marks visited her backstage, and Hargitay’s husband, Peter Herman, was also there.
One insider mentioned, “It was very sweet. He congratulated her and shared how much he enjoyed the show. You could sense their admiration for one another.”
The celebrity presence at Knicks games is always noteworthy, but it appears that no one quite matches Hargitay’s enthusiasm for Brunson.
He’s even noted in the past that he actively looks for her at every home game.
Brunson commented on “The Richard Jefferson Show,” saying, “Love her to death, and she knows that.”
He recently wrapped up an incredible season by clinching his first NBA championship, and during the Finals MVP celebration, he joked about wanting a guest role in “SVU.”
There might be hope for that to materialize soon, especially since Hargitay’s colleague, Christopher Meloni, has shown his support for the idea.
