Colin Gosselin Sends Subtle Message to Mother After Memoir Release

After recently releasing a memoir reflecting on his upbringing in the spotlight, Colin Gosselin took to Instagram to share a pointed message regarding his mother, Kate Gosselin. The post featured a New York Post headline about Kate, stating she was “soaring” ahead of Colin’s memoir and alluding to some shocking revelations. However, he blurred out her face and highlighted a comment that read, “Things done in the dark will always come to light.”

Reportedly, Kate, now 51, is feeling “in turmoil” about the contents of Colin’s memoir titled In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. A source indicated she had no prior knowledge of the book being written, noting that Colin has not spoken to her since she placed him in an institution when he was a child. The source shared that, “She never expected anything like this to happen,” adding that she worries it will astonish her fans.

Colin was diagnosed with a behavioral disorder, which led to his stay at the Fairmount Behavioral Health System when he was 12. During an episode of Kate Plus 8, Kate mentioned her struggles in meeting his needs, while the show continued to follow her life with their other children. At the same time, John, Colin’s father, claimed he didn’t find out about Colin’s situation until he noticed his absence during a family lunch.

In light of the upcoming memoir, Kate has reportedly told sources that Colin’s assertions are unfounded, though he supposedly has evidence to support his claims. It seems she wishes to stop the memoir from being published, which she acknowledges is out of her control.

According to sources, Colin’s siblings are also blindsided by the memoir. They allegedly don’t have a clear understanding of what Colin experienced, only what their mother has conveyed to them. Colin’s anticipation for the book’s release in October is palpable, as he discusses how he grappled with the decision to share his story, feeling that people only saw a part of his life, unaware of the struggles he endured behind the scenes.

He expressed, “This is not the story people think they know. This is the story I have lived,” marking a significant moment of reclaiming his narrative.
