Alaska Mayor Charged with Multiple Child Sex Crimes
Ulrik Geoffrey Ulrone, a former mayor of Chevak, Alaska, now faces serious charges related to child sex crimes. The 48-year-old was once honored as Parent of the Year, but his reputation is now overshadowed by allegations of assaulting several teenage girls between 2009 and 2025.
Authorities arrested Ulrone on Wednesday amid an ongoing investigation that began earlier this year, triggered by concerns over his interactions with a 17-year-old girl in Chevak from 2009 to 2010, shortly after he took office as mayor.
Officers revealed that more individuals have come forward with similar allegations against Ulrone. He is currently facing 47 charges, which include first-degree sexual assault of a minor, lewd acts, and providing alcohol to minors. Six victims have been named in the charges, but officials believe there may be more.
Brian Wassman, the lead investigator, emphasized that other offenses could have occurred in different communities from 2015 to 2017, while Ulrone was also fulfilling his role as a foster parent from 2005 to 2023.
Interestingly, he and his wife, Mary, were recognized as “Parents of the Year” by the Alaska Federation of Natives in October 2019, a time that now seems sadly ironic. Mary has expressed that these allegations have brought about a very distressing period for their family.
She stated, “My top priorities are the safety and well-being of everyone affected and the privacy of my children as they navigate this difficult situation,” requesting compassion during this challenging time.
Ulrone is set to appear in court for his arraignment on Tuesday. It’s also worth noting that just last month, Alaska lawmakers approved legislation to increase the age of consent in the state from 16 to 18.
