Trump Announces Unique Midterm Convention in Dallas
On Tuesday, President Trump revealed that the Republican Party is set to host an unusual “midterm convention” on September 9th and 10th in Dallas, Texas.
This event aims to generate excitement among Republican candidates as they prepare for the upcoming election on November 3rd. The news was initially shared by Bloomberg News.
“Big news!” Trump expressed on Truth Social, “For the first time ever, the Republican Party will hold its midterm convention in Dallas, Texas. It’s one of my favorite places.” He went on to describe the event as “amazing” and “truly historic.” According to him, it will be a celebration of the successes achieved through America First policies. He mentioned various topics, like eliminating taxes on tips and overtime, strengthening borders, ensuring community safety, and promoting lower costs and job growth.
Trump also highlighted, albeit somewhat dramatically, that “oil prices are plummeting even as we denuclearize Iran” and argued that his administration is making good on promises long left unfulfilled by politicians.
“The convention will gather hardworking Americans—innovators, entrepreneurs, first responders, and job creators—to celebrate what he dubbed America’s Golden Age,” he hinted. “And there will be plenty of entertainment, making it a rally unlike any other!”
With the nation’s 250th anniversary on the horizon, he emphasized this convention is about paving the way for America’s future greatness. “Together, we are laying the foundation for the next 250 years,” he added, asserting that “America’s Golden Age has just begun!”
Earlier, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is running for Senate, had hinted at Dallas as the venue, though details were scarce at that time.
The two-day convention will be shorter than those held during presidential election years, which generally span four days with numerous related activities.
Texas is anticipated to gain a new House seat due to a recent redistricting initiative, although Paxton is expected to face a tough competition from Democratic Rep. James Talarico.
Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters described the convention as “Trampapalooza,” suggesting it will focus on Trump’s many achievements. He stated, “This historic midterm convention will showcase the America First policies that provided the largest tax cuts in history and enhanced community safety,” underscoring a shared vision among Republicans to gather momentum for the event.
