Harmeet Dhillon: Without the Second Amendment, People Are Vulnerable

Second Amendment Protections Discussed by Harmeet Dhillon

In a recent conversation with Breitbart News, Harmeet Dhillon, the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, emphasized the significance of Second Amendment protections, suggesting that individuals without these rights are essentially “sitting ducks.”

Our discussion began with reflections on the founding of the nation. Dhillon highlighted how the early colonists exercised their inherent right to self-defense, which is foundational to the principles embedded in the Constitution. She acknowledged that, despite some troubling aspects of our history, like slavery, the journey toward emancipation was crucial in granting all individuals the same fundamental rights.

Dhillon examined the current importance of Second Amendment rights, particularly for women and people of faith who may be targets of violence. “As a woman, I personally own several firearms,” she stated. “I believe it’s a fundamental right for women to be able to defend themselves at home and carry concealed. This empowerment is vital, and we all need to take responsibility for our safety.”

She also pointed out the rise in anti-religious violence in the nation, urging places of worship to ensure they are prepared to protect themselves.

Dhillon remarked on the stark differences observed elsewhere, noting that many seem oblivious to the dangers posed by criminals, leaving women vulnerable.

She concluded, “We have a unique situation in this country, and it is important to recognize and uphold our rights.”
