Gas Shortages in Russia Amidst Ukraine Conflict
The ongoing conflict with Ukraine has led to severe gas shortages in Russia, resulting in long queues at gas stations, heated disputes, and even a fistfight reminiscent of mixed martial arts, all caught on video.
In the footage, one participant can be seen delivering a high kick to his opponent, showcasing techniques similar to those in professional MMA bouts.
Recent videos from various gas stations across Russia reveal the growing frustrations. Reports confirm that President Vladimir Putin has publicly acknowledged that Ukrainian attacks are contributing to the fuel crisis in Russia.
During a meeting on Sunday with top officials regarding fuel distribution, Putin emphasized the need to address the effects of Ukrainian drone strikes on the country’s oil supplies.
“We understand the ongoing challenges for both drivers and businesses,” he remarked during the meeting, as detailed by Russian media reports. “Unfortunately, we still see lines at gas stations.”
He further noted, “We must reduce the impact of these attacks on civilian infrastructure.”
Currently, Russia’s gasoline reserves are around 1.7 million tons, and additional measures are under consideration.
“We’re contemplating a complete ban on diesel fuel exports,” he stated, underscoring the importance of fuel for agricultural needs.
“The success of the harvest relies on agro-industrial sectors, and we must ensure that fuel supply schedules are upheld,” he added.
Ukraine’s drone operations have had significant impacts, causing real damage to Russian territory and pushing the government to confront these domestic issues.
According to sources, this fuel crisis is wreaking havoc across various regions of Russia, including Crimea, the south, and Moscow. Response measures include potentially allowing the production of lower-quality fuel temporarily.
Maxim Katz, a prominent Russian opposition figure, shared that in some areas, individuals spend hours searching for fuel, only to wait in line again after obtaining a small amount.
Videos also depict numerous confrontations—one incident features a man shouting obscenities and hitting a woman during an argument over fuel access.
One woman, who waited 13 hours in Siberia for fuel, expressed her frustration. “He should stop this pointless fight and let us live normally,” she lamented, referencing Putin’s actions.
