Resale prices for Dodgers One Piece cards reach astonishing heights

Dodgers’ One Piece Night Ignites Fan Craze

The excitement around Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers has escalated significantly. Fans are already trying to sell promotional cards, even those they haven’t yet received, ahead of Thursday’s One Piece Night.

Set for Thursday evening at 6:40 p.m., the Dodgers will host the San Diego Padres at Dodger Stadium. eBay listings are buzzing with exclusive “Monkey D. Luffy DON!!” promotional cards that will be handed out during the game.

Currently, one of these cards is priced at nearly $900, while some sellers are listing presale versions of the PSA 10 at around $3,500. It’s worth noting that the sales are happening before the first pitch is even thrown.

The high prices might sound a bit outlandish, but looking back at last year’s promotions, they don’t seem entirely unreasonable.

eBay data shows that PSA has sold promotional cards from the “2025 Dodgers x One Piece Knight Monkey D. Luffy” series for more than $4,000. Several cards have sold between $4,000 and $4,600.

Stadium freebies have gained immense popularity in the secondary market, becoming highly sought-after collectibles.

This thriving resale market exemplifies the “Shohei Ohtani effect,” which has essentially made the Dodgers Japan’s favored baseball team.

Since bringing Ohtani on board, along with other Japanese stars like Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Aki Sasaki, the Dodgers have landed over 20 corporate sponsors from Japan. This unprecedented influx of support has propelled the team’s annual sponsorship revenue past $200 million, making them the first MLB team to achieve such a milestone.

This collaboration also highlights the Dodgers’ increasing connection to Japanese pop culture.

One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda, first graced the pages of manga in July 1997, with an anime following in 1999. The series continues to be a massive entertainment phenomenon, with a live-action adaptation launching in 2023 along with two seasons on Netflix.

The Dodgers initially partnered with One Piece during their promotional night in 2025.

The first 52,000 attendees who purchase tickets will receive a limited edition “Monkey D. Luffy DON!!” trading card along with co-branded straw hats. Fans visiting the game can also check out Centerfield Plaza for a One Piece-themed festival, which includes life-size card displays, photo ops, and a unique pre-game drone show.
