Rise of Radical Socialists Aims to ‘Dismantle America’, Says Laura Ingraham
Chad Pergram reported from Capitol Hill about the increasing impact of Democratic Socialists within the party. Melat Quiros, a noticeable figure, recently ousted a veteran incumbent in Colorado’s primary. She has called for major changes, including abolishing ICE, implementing universal Medicare, and addressing what she refers to as “genocide in Palestine.”
In a recent interview, Quiros linked Israel’s actions in the Middle East to rising antisemitism globally. She is seen as part of a new trend of far-left candidates gaining traction in the Democratic Party, having won her primary in a Denver district. This victory follows a similar win by a far-left candidate in New York state last month.
Colorado’s Attorney General, Phil Weiser, expressed concern regarding the state’s reluctance to label last year’s violent incident at a pro-Israel rally in Boulder as antisemitic. During a recent discussion, a host raised this issue with Quiros, emphasizing the Attorney General would like to engage with her directly.
“I certainly will,” Quiros responded, agreeing to the proposed discussion with Weiser. She described the Boulder attack as a devastating event targeting Jews protesting peacefully and acknowledged the risks that Israel’s actions pose to Jewish communities, committing to address the rising hate and antisemitism in society.
Quiros also stated that U.S. foreign policies foster situations like the 9/11 attacks, implying that such attacks were somewhat predictable given current geopolitical dynamics.
Reflecting on a past violent episode, she commented on an individual, Mohamed Soliman, who carried out a bombing at a pro-Israel demonstration in Boulder. Soliman, disguised as a gardener, was arrested after throwing incendiary devices into the crowd, resulting in the death of a woman and injury to several others. He later accepted a plea deal that sentenced him to life in prison, expressing remorse yet denying any hatred toward Jews.
Upon winning the primary, Quiros emphasized her dedication to advocating for the cessation of violence in Palestine as part of her political agenda. Her statements and campaign focus clearly position her among the growing number of leftist candidates reshaping the Democratic landscape.
