He argued in his piece “America at 250 Years Old: Trump Fascism, Historical Erasure, and the Fight for Truth” that while the declaration is often praised, it also facilitated the marginalization of Indigenous and Black communities. “It created distance from empire to maintain the privileges of a select group, without granting true independence to those marginalized,” Love stated, emphasizing that America was built on “stolen land and stolen labor.”
