After Ja'Marr Chase took a shot at the Chiefs defense heading into Sunday's game, no one was surprised when Chase got into a shoving match with Jarius Sneed that escalated into a larger brawl.
But even after the Chiefs won, Chase couldn't help but take a jab at Snead when speaking to reporters.
“I don't know what he was doing. I think it just gets under people's skin sometimes,” Chase said. “Fel won't fight me, so it's okay. …It's just nonsense. I can't deal with it.”
The turmoil occurred in the second quarter. when two people mesh Chase shoved Snead twice, and a Chiefs defender pushed Snead back.
The push continued after the referee tried to break it up, and then other members of both teams got involved.
Snead had some harsh comments about Chase after the game.
“We had some words. After the game, I went up to him and told him, 'That was a good game,'” Snead said. “But check out the stats.”
Against the Bengals, Chase had just three catches for 42 yards and was eliminated from playoff contention.
Additionally, Snead was the primary defender in coverage for Chase, gaining 27 yards on three targets and allowing just two catches, according to Next Gen Stats.
There has been growing discord between the Chiefs and Bengals, and Sunday's game only added to that.
Chase told reporters last week that there was “nothing that stood out” about Kansas City's secondary.
When asked on Sunday who started the trash talk, Chase replied, “I started it.” “All of their defense was mad at me. It started at the beginning of the game. You've seen it. Everyone's seen it. That's what I like about it. I just get under people’s skin sometimes.”

Chase missed last week's game against the Steelers with a shoulder issue, and there was a question mark over whether he would play against Kansas City.
However, despite having Chase in the lineup, the Bengals fell to 8-8, and the Chiefs won their eighth straight AFC West title.
