Brian Baldinger rips Eagles’ Jordan Davis for being ‘overweight’

Brian Baldinger has made it clear that Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis' New Year's resolution should be to lose a few pounds.

“Jordan Davis is not feeling well.” Baldinger said Tuesday on the PHLY Philadelphia Eagles podcast.. “I don't know what fines they are giving him every week, but I have to believe he is being taken money. He is overweight and it shows.”

Philadelphia's defense has been under intense scrutiny as the Eagles have fallen from a strong 10-1 team to a weak 11-5 team with a division championship unlikely.

The defense allowed the Seahawks' Drew Lock the winning shot in Week 15's “Monday Night Football,” but shut down Kyler Murray and the Cardinals' run game in a devastating home loss in Week 16. There is a high possibility that the Cardinals will win the championship. 5th seed in the NFC.

Philadelphia's secondary has come under scrutiny during this rut, but Baldinger, who is known for his breakdowns, believes Davis bears some of the blame.

Davis, the No. 13 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has 2.5 sacks, 16 solo tackles and one forced fumble in his second season.

“He's not chasing football, he's not doing any pass rush or anything. That's one thing. If he's going to put in that much effort and play that fat, he's going to say, 'Okay, they He's a missing player in the rotation,''' said Baldinger, who works for NFL Network. “Fletcher (Cox) is playing too much… (Davis) is not effective inside, so we need another guy inside in the defensive tackle rotation.”

“I don't know why he keeps dressing, he's been ineffective. He's basically walking down the field when the play is going on. It's a bad effort.”

The Eagles have already changed defensive coordinators, shifting duties from Sean Desai to Matt Patricia, but that hasn't ignited the unit.

Philadelphia is no longer in control of its own destiny heading into Week 18's road game against the Giants, as the Cowboys could win the division with a road win against the hapless Commanders.
