Americans Should Not Call Illegal Aliens ‘Criminals’

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R), who is currently running in the Republican presidential primary, has previously said that Americans should not describe illegal aliens as “criminals” and that doing so is He suggested that it was “rude.”

In July 2015, one month after then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced his candidacy with a speech centered on combating illegal immigration, Haley announced that then-CEO Walter Isaacson I participated in a panel discussion hosted by the Aspen Institute, where I served as the moderator.

In his final question, Isaacson asked Haley, “As a family of immigrants from India, how does that affect the way you think about the immigration debate, and how do you feel about the tone of the immigration debate that has changed recently?” Do you?” he asked.

In response, Haley said that while it is natural for Americans to be dissatisfied with illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border, she also uses words like “criminals” to describe illegal immigrants. He asked the audience not to use words. Because they are “not criminals.” she said:

So I think what we have to remember, and what I've always believed, is that we are a nation of laws. It's what has made us strong, so it's very frustrating for many people to see illegal immigrants encounter. It's really amazing that after all these years, DC can't figure out how to build a wall. Considering all they spent, it really is.

That being said, we are a nation of immigrants. I am a proud daughter of Indian parents. My parents reminded us every day how blessed we are to live in this country. They get upset when people come here illegally.but Remember, people who want to come here do so because they want a better life. They also have children. They have hearts too, so there's no need to be rude to them. There is no need to talk about them as criminals, but they are not. They are a family that wants a better life. And they are desperate to get here.

What we have to do is make sure that we have a set of laws that we abide by and abide by them. I think some things have been said that are unfortunate and wrong, but I also think they need to be remembered, especially for all of us. …Tone and communication matter, and so do people. There’s no need to be cold about this… just be kinder than necessary. [Emphasis added]

Haley's previous comments contrast with recent statements in which she vowed a “capture and deport” policy that would prohibit the federal government from releasing illegal aliens into the interior of the United States.

“What we have to do is, once we get them, deport them from where they came from,” Haley told Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matt Boyle in an interview last year. Ta.

“We can't tolerate them in this country. My parents always said, 'If you don't obey the laws when you come into this country, you won't obey the laws when you come into this country.' Ta. We have to stop the bleeding,” she said.
