Microsoft is adding a new artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot button to some Windows keyboards to help users more easily participate in what the company calls an “AI transformation.”
Starting this month, some computers with the Windows 11 operating system will have redesigned keyboards with a “Copilot key” that launches Microsoft's AI companion, Microsoft's executive vice president and chief consumer official said. marketing director Yusuf Mehdi said in a blog post on Thursday.
The new keys mark the first major redesign of Windows PC keyboards in nearly 30 years, and Mehdi says that “2024 will be the year of the AI PC.”
“About 30 years ago, we introduced the Windows key to PC keyboards, allowing people around the world to operate Windows,” the executive said. “We see this as a new transformational moment in Copilot's journey with Windows, where Copilot becomes his gateway to the world of AI on his PC.”
