In a press conference Thursday morning, Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante said his department received an alert at 7:37 a.m. about the shooting at Perry High School and officers were on the scene within seven minutes. Ta.
update: The Associated Press noted that the suspected Perry High School shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The AP said the information was relayed to it by a law enforcement official who requested anonymity.

Infante said there were “multiple shooting victims,” adding that “the number of injured is still unknown.”
He added: “There is no further risk to the public. Our community is safe.”

Infante said the shooting occurred during a time when many teachers and students were not at school, which was the best-case scenario.
He said the gunman's identity has been confirmed, but his identity is not being released at this time.
