New York AG seeks over $370M from Trump, co-defendants for ‘ill-gotten gains’

New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking more than $370 million from former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants in a highly publicized civil fraud trial.

According to documents filed in court on Friday, Ms. James requested a financial penalty as repayment for the ill-gotten gains.

“The conclusion that the defendants intended fraud in preparing and certifying President Trump's SFC is unavoidable,” the attorney general said. “The plan is so outrageous that it is hard to believe the innocent explanation.”

Back in September, Engoron said Trump and the Trump Organization committed fraud They build real estate empires by defrauding banks, insurance companies, and others, overestimating their assets, and exaggerating their net worth on the papers needed to make deals and secure financing.

“The myriad deceptive schemes they employed to inflate property values ​​and conceal facts were so outrageous that it belies any innocent explanation,” James wrote.

Mr. Trump and his family have denied any wrongdoing, insisting that the former president repeatedly said his wealth was actually undervalued.
