“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin confronted Gypsy Rose Blanchard about orchestrating her mother's murder on Friday's episode of the daytime talk show.

“Why commit murder?” the co-host asked, referring to the infamous Missouri case. After serving more than eight years in prison for murder, Blanchard appeared on the show and talked about his life. She pleaded guilty to conspiring with her then-boyfriend to stab her abusive mother, Claudine Blanchard, to death in her bed.

Experts believe Blanchard's mother suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy. The mental illness is said to have been faked by Claudine, also known as Dee Dee, who projected it onto her daughter in an attempt to garner attention and goods out of sympathy for the victim.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard appeared on “The View” on Friday to describe her life after being released from prison for plotting to kill her abusive mother, Claudine Blanchard.

After Blanchard explained to her co-hosts how difficult life was with her mother, Hostin asked her some tough questions. She prefaced it by saying, “You're very brave to come here and tell your story. I think it will help a lot of people.”

But she continued, “But the question that a lot of people have, and I don't have, is this: Why didn't you try to tell your family, maybe the police, that you weren't?” “Are you sick?” Why resort to murder? ”

Ms. Blanchard responded by explaining that she felt she had no other choice at the time because she was so scared of her mother.

“Well, I actually tried to run away, and I talk about this in the documentary. I talk about the first time I tried to run away from home. Within four hours, I was just outside of town. Within four hours she took me home, chained me to the bed, and left me there for two weeks. ”

“For two weeks, we didn't have a lot of food or water. I had to urinate myself or urinate in buckets. You know, she had chains,” she said sympathetically. After speaking to the organizers, he added: “I'm so scared for her. I'm so worried about what will happen if I ask for her help again, that she'll be worse for me.”

Co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin asked Ms. Blanchard how she felt about her ex-lover being sentenced to life in prison for murder, given the limited time available to her. “I know we both probably have a lot of regrets. I do.” “I know I regret it. I don't really know that side of him because I can't speak for him.”
