One person was killed and 11 others injured when a New York City-bound tour bus overturned on a highway in the southern Adirondacks on Friday, state police said.
The accident occurred just before 1 p.m. on Interstate 87 and the Adirondack Northway in the town of Lake George in Warren County, state police said in a press release.
Police have not disclosed the circumstances of the accident.
Authorities confirmed the Skyway Coach Lines tour bus was traveling southbound on Interstate 87 toward the Big Apple from Montreal, Canada.
Video shared from the scene showed a large white and green tour bus lying on its side as emergency personnel began arriving on the scene.

According to police, there were 24 people on the bus at the time of the accident.
State police confirmed one person was killed in the rollover.
One passenger was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
Ten other people sustained minor injuries after the accident.
Gov. Kathy Hochul thanked first responders for their “heroic efforts” on the X Post.
“I join all New Yorkers in praying for everyone involved in this horrific incident and thanking the first responders for their heroic efforts,” Hochul wrote.
Hochul also said police and Transport Ministry officials were carrying out rescue operations at the scene.

The southbound expressway was closed between exits 23 and 22.

Police spokeswoman Deanna Cohen said the scene was still being assessed and no further details were available.
Hochul added, “I join the people of New York in wishing the best for everyone involved in this horrific incident and deeply appreciating the heroic efforts of the first responders.”
