The Washington Post is in trouble.

The Washington Post currently loses $100 million a year.

Online engagement has also been lost by more than half.

Red State reported:

Is the Washington Post in full-fledged collapse? A look at recent numbers provides a pretty convincing answer to that question.

In addition to losing $100 million a year, the Post has lost more than half of its online engagement by the end of 2023, according to the report. By the middle of this year, the signs were already showing that the worst was yet to come.

The presence of billionaire sugar daddies has helped mask some of the problems plaguing the Post, but it can only stem the tide for so long. Losing more than 50% of her online viewership would be devastating for a station with such high overhead costs. Subscriber numbers also declined sharply throughout the Biden administration.

This last fact is interesting. That's because this trend was originally thought to be caused by Donald Trump not being in the news anymore. But the former president has been firmly in the headlines again over the last year, and the Post continues to languish. If Trump's multiple felony charges aren't enough to save a once-famous newspaper, it's hard to imagine what could be.
