Ex-AOC aide paid self $140K from his PAC for ‘consulting work’ while spending minimal on its mission

A former aide to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) collected six-figure donations from political action committees for reported consulting work while spending minimal amounts on the PAC's actual duties. I poured it into my pocket.

Corbin Trent, who once worked as a close aide to Ocasio-Cortez and helped propel her to office, resigned as Ocasio-Cortez's communications director in 2019 and withdrew from her campaign in 2020 before joining the No Excuses PAC. was formed.

Trent launched No Excuses in 2021, targeting Sens. Joe Manchin (R-Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (R-Ariz.) with the goal of overriding the Senate filibuster. . But a recent report found that No Excuses spent little money on its public efforts.

Instead, Trent paid himself nearly $140,000 for reported communications and management consulting between February 2021 and September 2023, Federal Election Commission filings show. It is shown.

During that time, Mr. Trent's group spent just $14,831 on radio ads targeting Mr. Manchin and Mr. Sinema. This means that Mr. Trent's PAC paid him 10 times more for his reported consulting services than he spent on his stated goals, the publication noted.

Trent did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment, but told The Daily Beast that he earns money from his television appearances, which further the PAC's mission. However, the publication noted that he paid himself consistently even when he wasn't appearing on television.

Trent served as an advisor to Ocasio-Cortez and later co-founded Justice Democrats before forming No Excuse, helping to propel her to power.

AOC's office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

“No Excuse'' is expected to change direction from the filibuster and persuade President Biden not to run for a second term, and is soliciting donations to that end.

“President Biden, you have accomplished more in the last three years than most two-term presidents,” No Excuses says in an ad in X. “But voters in battleground states say they would vote for Trump if you were the Democratic nominee.”

“If you try to cling to power, your legacy will be the ultimate destruction of our democracy by Donald Trump,” the ad continues. “But if you leave, you will be remembered as one of the greatest presidents in history. Thank you, Joe. But now it's time to go.”

In its most recent report, No Excuses reported that it had just over $1,500 in the bank, and declined to tell The Daily Beast how much money it had raised to date.
