Breece Hall’s Jets comeback ends just short of 1,000 yards

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — For Breece Hall, there's no business like the snow business.

“When I was young and living in Omaha, [Nebraska]Hall said after leading the Jets to a 17-3 victory over Bill Belichick and the Patriots. Telephone poles, that was the craziest thing. In the end, we lost so badly to the team that we had to withdraw at half-time. I played in a fair amount of snow before. ”

Fifteen months after tearing his ACL, Hall ran 37 times for 178 yards, scored a game-clinching 50-yard touchdown, and caught two passes for 12 yards.

Recognizing the adversity he would have to overcome and remembering how to be an elite back, the Jets gave him one last handoff before time ran out, rather than kneel to get him to 1,000 yards.

He finished with 994.

“I wasn't really upset because everyone in the league who was watching me knows that I have the potential to be probably the best player in the NFL, even if I'm not. I think he could be top two or top three,” Hall said. “It was a good season because I did everything I could to get the coaches to believe in me even though I just came back from an ACL.”

Hall's teammates were even more upset that he didn't reach 1,000 yards.

“It makes me sick to my stomach to hear that,” Tyler Conklin said. “But he's going to have a lot of 1,000-yard seasons in his career, so even though he didn't get it today because he was a little sick, he's obviously a special player. “Hey, I know you can move better in this snow than they can.” So win the game for us. ” ”

So he did.

“I told him, 'Don't talk to me after the game. I don't want to hear your tweets if you don't go over 150 yards,'” CJ Mosley said. “We needed that from him to win that game.”

Hall knew what was coming when she looked outside in the morning and saw flakes flying. he was coming “Okay, we're going to run the ball a lot today,” Hall said.

He and his teammates were playing snow angels in the end zone after the touchdown.

“I knew I was going to go out, and Nick Bolden made a great block in the corner and pancaked it, and as soon as I saw the lane, I knew I was going to score,” Hall said. “And when we celebrated, we talked about doing the snow angel as soon as we finished, and I jumped into the ground and everyone started jumping with me, so it was definitely fun.”
