On Sunday, social media erupted in reaction to comedian Jo Koy's opening monologue at the Golden Globes, with some calling it the worst thing they'd ever seen.
Although Coy's opening monologue had a fairly traditional start, his joke was significantly unpopular with the live audience when he took a jab at the blockbuster hit. barbiehas been nominated for several awards.
“oppenheimer and barbie We are competing for the box office performance of movies,” said Coy. “oppenheimer is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning 724-page book about the Manhattan Project, and Barbie is based on a plastic doll with large boobs. ”
The joke was met with laughter, boos and jeers. To be fair, barbie Director and co-writer Greta Gerwig seems to agree.
“The important moment is barbie “That's when she goes from perfect beauty to having bad breath, cellulite, flat feet, or what casting directors call a 'character actor,'” he continued.
When the joke drew groans, Coy blamed the writers.
“Some I wrote, some others wrote,” he said. “Oh, the gig was booked 10 days ago! You want the perfect monologue? Shut up! Are you kidding? I wrote some of these and they're the ones you're laughing at.”
People were even less kind on social media.
That monologue felt longer than the double features of “Oppenheimer'' and “The Killers of the Flower Moon.'' Wow.
