Scott Fitterer fired as Carolina Panthers GM

Now, two of the leaders behind that decision, coach Frank Reich and general manager Scott Fitterer, are out of work. Reich was fired early in the season and Fitterer was let go on Black Monday.
Hired in 2021, Fitterer's role with the Panthers has been reduced to administrative support for head coach Matt Rhule, who had complete control of the team. As Rhule's future became more uncertain, the Fitterer gained more control and achieved terrifying objectives. The Panthers infamously said they would be “into any trade,” but he proceeded to build the team in despair over Rhule's image, which began a merry-go-round of starting quarterbacks and mismanagement of assets.
Fitterer's time in Carolina is best remembered for the disastrous trade for Sam Darnold, releasing Christian McCaffrey at questionable value in return, and then orchestrating a franchise-defining trade to get him into the 2023 NFL Draft. They took Young in first place.
Carolina fans, who are considered to be the ones responsible for the Panthers' demise, have not lost their love for the fired general manager.
