Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots are rumored to be headed for a split after the team's inability to maintain a championship winning streak since Tom Brady's departure.
Belichick insisted Monday that he's taking it all day by day, a sentiment echoed by former Patriots great Rob Gronkowski. He told NBC's “Today” show that the six-time Super Bowl champion wants to stay in Foxboro.

“I know Coach Belichick definitely wants to stay with the New England Patriots,” Gronkowski said. “He's a lifelong Patriot. He's won six Super Bowls. He's like a grandfather. I think it's all up to Mr. Kraft about what direction he wants to go with the New England Patriots. .
“At the end of the day, when it really comes down to it, I think he's going to keep Coach Bill Belichick as head coach for at least another year…I think he'll bounce back. He's still an unbelievable coach. He knows how to use his abilities.”

Belichick was asked about his future with the team amid a wave of coaching layoffs around the league during the so-called “Black Monday.”

He said he plans to meet with team owner Robert Kraft.
“So, my contract is to come to the team every day and work as hard as I can to help the team in any way that I can, as I always do,” he said. “So, that’s what I’m going to continue to do.
“Today was a wrap-up day for the players and for us. We'll have a meeting with them and go from there. So as far as decisions and direction for next year and things like that, it's too early.” ”

Belichick declined to address questions about “hypothetical situations” when asked about offers from college programs.
