Apple Vision Pro headsets to debut in US soon, company says

Apple announced Monday that its Vision Pro augmented reality headset will be available in the U.S. market on February 2nd.

Apple Vision Pro, first announced last summer, will have a starting price of $3,499, according to the tech giant.

Apple announced that pre-orders for the device will begin on January 19th ahead of its February debut. When Vision Pro is released, it will be sold at Apple's physical stores and online store in the United States.

CEO Tim Cook touted it as “the most advanced consumer electronics ever created” and said, “The era of spatial computing has arrived.”

Vision Pro “blends digital content and the physical world, unlocking powerful spatial experiences in visionOS that are controlled by the most natural and intuitive input possible: the user's eyes, hands, and voice,” the tech giant said.

When wearing the headset, users can view many apps side by side, which Apple says can help improve productivity.

Users can also use Vision Pro for entertainment purposes.

In addition to the new “spatial games” that Apple has announced will specifically utilize this technology, many existing games will be compatible with the headset. When it comes to movies and TV, the company said users will feel like they're watching Apple TV+, Disney+, Max, and other content available on Vision Pro on a “100-foot-wide” screen.

“While you interact with Vision Pro, where you look remains private, and no eye-tracking information is shared with Apple or third-party apps or websites,” Apple said.

Apple says customers will also get both a solo knit band and a dual-loop band to wear the headset.

The company launched the iPhone 15s (priced from $799 to $1,199 depending on model) and Apple Watch Series 9 in mid-September. In October, it announced new versions of the iMac and MacBook Pro.
