Is Travis Kelce worth a bet as long shot?

Super Bowl MVP odds are finalized and you can start placing your bets.

Although the 49ers quarterback is not the favorite to win the award, regular season MVP Lamar Jackson is projected to win the award, with odds of +390 on FanDuel.

This is a slight discount from the Ravens' full Super Bowl price of +350.

Behind Jackson are two quarterbacks on star-studded teams: the 49ers' Brock Purdy (+500) and the Bills' Josh Allen (+800).

Allen and the Bills have skyrocketed up the ranks in the minds of “Bills Mafia” and bettors alike, as Buffalo has gone from 40/1 in Week 14 to now +650 and won the Super Bowl.

There's also no love for typical favorite Patrick Mahomes. He's at 10/1 to be Super Bowl MVP again, but that doesn't discount the Chiefs' Super Bowl odds.

The Chiefs can win the Super Bowl on October 1st on DraftKings.

Kansas City is scheduled to play the Miami Dolphins at home on Saturday, and in a battle of struggling teams, the Chiefs are the 3.5-point favorite to win.

If you look at the Super Bowl MVP board, you'll see some interesting options, including Travis Kelce and his 140/1 odds.

Kelce won Super Bowl MVP last season, starting Jan. 28 at BetMGM.

Of course, the Chiefs are in the middle of multiple nightmare scenarios this season involving dropped receivers.

If the Chiefs are to repeat as Super Bowl champions, it will have to be behind their defense and the Mahomes-Kelce duo.

If you look at historical data here, you'll see that in 2019, Julian Edelman had 10 catches for 141 yards and won Super Bowl MVP when the Patriots beat the Rams 13-3.

Mahomes needs an uneven performance, and to be fair it's hard to see, but he needs to target Kelce early and often.

But that's not too far from what the Chiefs have looked like overall this season.

Although this team continued to play poorly throughout 2023, Kelce is trusted more than ever, and at his price, Kelce has some value.

The other would be Nick Bosa, who reigns as Defensive Player of the Year at 85/1.

One of the best pass rushers in the NFL, Bosa has several sacks and could be just one step away from becoming an MVP candidate.

We already know that many voters don't have much love for Purdy.

Bosa opened at 100-1 but dropped to 50-1 by week 202, but at this point last season the Niners were +450 to win the Super Bowl (odds were third in it was good).

San Francisco has odds of +220 and is the clear favorite ahead of the first set of games.
